About the Photographer

Thanks for visiting my website and checking out my kitesurfing photos and other marine images!  I've been doing action photography since the mid '80s and am also an avid underwater and nature photographer here in the wonderous Pacific Northwest of the United States.  My love of photography sometimes takes me to extremes to get that killer shot, including scuba diving in Puget Sound, solo outback trips to the Alaskan Interior and Yucatan Peninsula.  Most recently, I have become immersed in my new passion... kitesurf photography!  At the time I write this (June 2005), I have a custom waterhousing in production which should arrive this summer.  I can't wait to explore all the new perspectives which this will open up!

During the past 2-3 years, I have converted to digital photography and am completely dedicated to providing the absolutely best images which my skills and modern technology can provide (currently using a 16+ megapixel Canon 1DS Mark II).  My past photographic pursuits have included serving as head photographer for Intercollegiate Athletics at U.C. Berkely in the early 1990s and 5 years with the University of Washington Athletic Department, including various newspapers and other publications.  I am also received requests for my work from various national publications, including Sports Illustrated and USA Today.  I also consider myself a qualified darkroom specialist, including color RA and Cibachrome processing.  Please feel free to contact me for your digital imaging and printing needs.  My images are available for personal, editorial, and commercial use.  Also, please feel free to peruse my underwater photo site at www.DIVEPHOTOS.com

Seeya on the water,

Ethan
